Obsession and Insomnia

And here we go again…I have been putting in so much time playing video games that I’m not sleeping. Always critiquing always becoming better. Last night I went to sleep around 4 and was up at 8 and the first thing I did was check my Farmville. Yes I play Farmville, its a game isn’t it! I also play the Sims but its weird how I play that game. I may go weeks without playing it at all and the minute I start playing I will usually lose 7 or 8 hours playing unless my notebook was secretly unplugged and the battery died.

As you know the latest obsession is surrounded around FFXIII and with that said I can’t type anymore or even post a picture because I’m on disc 3 and I need to help Lightning fulfill her focus….

Level Cap

After 30 plus hours of Final Fantasy XIII I have decided that I hate level caps. Let me try to explain the situation for those NOT playing this game.

In your typical RPG a character gains experience points by defeating enemies and accomplishing task and every time you accumulate X amount of experience points you gain a level/rank. For each level you go up your character gets stronger and acquires new abilities. Here is where the difference comes about, in other RPGs there is no set period or time when you can level up and if you wanted to become level 100 before the middle of the game you could log in many hours doing so.

With FFXIII you can only level up to a certain extent, for example If you are a level 3 Commando you will not be able to attain a greater level until you have made it past the next check point regardless of how many enemies you fight. I personally prefer the styles of more traditional RPGs in that sense. It does force you to strategize more when facing some of the tougher bosses, but I don’t want tough I want to pluck away 30 hours leveling up and kill the last boss with 1 giant attack and then complain the final boss is no Sephiroth. LOL!

Misleading Information

If you didn’t know, I love finding free games to play especially on Xbox Live so when I find one I come to you and brag about it. Some free games are the greatest games EVAR (Thank you Ray William Johnson) and others are a steaming pool of flavored….yeah I’m sure you know what I’m getting at.

Well I found a game on Xbox Live called Family Game Night and it was marked free so immediately I did my happy dance, which doesn’t really involve me dancing but….never mind. I go thru the motions to download this game and invite my daughter to play with me. The game is created by Hasbro and features some of the best board games EVAR, such as Scrabble, Battleship, and Sorry. To our surprise these games, inside a game, were not free. None of them! as a matter of fact, they all cost 800 Microsoft points. I gotta say I wasn’t happy to find out that I wasted a good happy dance on something that wasn’t free. I understand the marketing strategy behind this but that doesn’t make me fill better.

Anyway they set it up where your not forced to buy all of the games, just the ones you really like or can afford. I will say that it’s not bad marketing but it is misleading and I want my Happy Dance Back!….and I want them to lower that price tag to maybe 400 Microsoft points.

Its been a busy week people but I would like to present to you your comment section

This game was an early Xbox 360 release but its replay value is high. Not to mention that you can download it for $20 bucks over Xbox Live or get it used from Gamestop for $17

The most recent update revolves around Dante’s Inferno which is an excellent game. I can’t give it the attention it truly deserves until I finish Mass Effect 2 and Final Fantasy XIII.

Losing Time

I have picked up the new Final Fantasy XIII and it beautiful but I can’t seem to keep track of time. Everytime I say I’m going to stop in an hour 3 hours go by. So far its been 10 hrs since I said I was going to stop playing . Here are some great screen shots of my current area.

The Life of the Vanguard

Mass Effect 2

So Mass Effect 2 is an excellent game! I’m on Omega helping Archangel escape from the 3 big time crime syndicates. I want to warn you all now, these are spoilers.  With that said, Archangel is actually Shepherds old friend Garrus. Here is a little bit of past for people who haven’t played the original Mass Effect. Spectres are élite soldiers with the highest possible security clearance and immunity from consequences that result from them completing their objective. When Shepherd joined this exclusive rank he was partnered with Garrus, an already established Spectre.
Back to the story…So I fought across the bridge to assist “Archangel”  and then fought wave after wave of sentries…to be continued. Shepherd, Garrus, and Miranda will now be my team of choice. Go visit Max@Play for more on this game.
